Frequently Asked Questions
Below are a series of questions submitted by people interested in finding out more about Amaze Heaters, and our responses. If you have a query about our products or service that is not covered by these FAQs, please get in touch, we'd love to help you.
A. Our smallest heater, the 250W model, weighs 5kg packed ("shipping weight"). This heater with heat guard attached weights 7kg packed.
Our largest heater, the 600W model, weighs 12kg packed. Add the heat guard and the packed weight is 15kg.
A. Yes.
A. Yes.
A. Yes, screw the heater to the wall using the supplied mounting kit, foil heat reflector and template. Plug it in with the approx. 1.7m-long cord and plug. An extension cord or multibox can be safely used, as the wattage of the heater is so low. A plug-in time switch (or timer) and/or plug-in thermostat can also be safely used.
Installation instructions are included with every heater. Here is a summary:
- Mark all 4 position holes on the wall, using template supplied.
- Drill the pilot holes for the drywall anchors.
- Screw the drywall anchor into each pilot hole.
- Pin the foil sheet to the wall using supplied pins.
- Secure the four mounting legs to the wall using the supplied screws.
- Align the holes on the heater panel with the mounting legs.
- Firmly screw in the four legs.
- Finalise the position of the heater on the wall while tightening the screws.
- Tighten the cap/nuts over the four mounting posts to lock the unit in place.
A. Our wall panel convection heaters are made with two sheets of durable non-conducting calcium silicate board specially made for us. The glue that bonds the sheets has insulating properties with excellent dielectric strength. All components are certified materials and fire retardant. The completed panels have extra reinforced strength (e.g. making them shatter proof) and are triple insulated (excellent for safety).
A. One of the advantages of using a heater that isn’t made from metal is that if you accidentally touch the panel, the heat will transfer to you slower than a metal heater, thus normally making it safer. If you have a “typical” reflex reaction you will be able to pull away from the heater before enough heat has transferred to burn you. Choose the model with heat guard if you want to have added “touch safety” for babies, toddlers and elderly who don’t have a “typical” reflex reaction time when touching something hot.
A. The heater design will efficiently distribute the generated heat throughout the room using natural convection. The 25mm gap between the heater panel itself and the foil lined wall provides a perfectly sized channel for air to be heated and natural convection to occur. There is some radiant heat as well (all our heaters need a clear space in front of them) but you can have items close either side of them.
A. Our electric convector wall panel heaters can be used for long periods of time and have a low running cost. This can help to lower home heating costs up to 50% compared to other forms of space heaters. And you can warm only the room of your choice without having to heat the entire house!
The beauty of your fixed wattage panel heater is you know how much power you will use before you turn it on. Our 250W mini heater only uses 1 unit of electricity every 4 hours. Depending on where you live, that could be less than 5 cents per hour on night rate, and around 10 cents per hour on peak rate. If you think 250 watts is going to get your room too hot, add a plug-in thermostat.
A. Our wall panel heaters can be painted with any water-based (acrylic) non-enamel paint.
A. No fan! Less noise! This can make it better for asthma and allergy sufferers with less dust being pushed around. And obviously perfect for sleeping.
A. The heater panel itself is only about 1.2cm thick. The panel sits 2.5cm off the wall. So the total thickness out from the wall is less than 4cm. The heater must be a minimum of 15cm above the floor.
